Joseph P. McKanna

McKANNA, Joseph P., 57, of Glen Drive, West Warwick, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 29, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after nine and a half years of cancer illness.

He was the beloved husband of Deborah A. (Ford) McKanna, they would have been married 32 years in October.  Born in Warwick, a son of the late George J. and Mary E. (Roarke) McKanna.  He was a lifelong resident of West Warwick.

Joe was a wire winder at Stanley Bostitch for 31 years.  He was a member of West Warwick Lodge of Elks # 1697, Valley Builders Association # 449, Crompton Veterans Organization, an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed gardening.  The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers for their assistance, without them, this journey would not have been possible.

Besides his wife he leaves three children, Alfred J. Anderson, Kristie L. Anderson and Melissa L. McKanna; three siblings, Mary E. Gagnon, Kathleen A. Benjamin and Michael McKanna and grandfather of three.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at 9 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Mary Church, Church St., West Warwick.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.  Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 pm.  In lieu of flowers contributions to VNA Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.henault-gallogly.com
