Celestina "Sal" A. (Marsocci) Petrarca

PETRARCA, Celestina A. (Marsocci), “Sal", 89, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, January 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at Kent Regency Nursing Center in Warwick.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael D. Petrarca, they were married for 53 years.  A lifelong resident of West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Francesco and Josephine (Mancini) Marsocci.

Mrs. Petrarca was a 1948 graduate of West Warwick High School.  She was employed by J.J. Newberry Company for 30 years and Sears for 19 years before retiring.  “Sal" was a devoted, lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church serving as a member of many committees, including St. Ann’s Sodality,  the Social Justice Committee and the Christmas Bazaar group.

She is survived by two daughters, Celeste Rheaume and her husband Christopher of Lincoln and Donna Petrarca of West Warwick; a son, Michael Petrarca and his wife Diane of West Warwick; a brother, Raymond Marsocci and his wife Elaina of Burlington, VT and her grandchildren, Michael Petrarca, Melissa Petrarca and Nicolette LaFrance.  She was the sister of the late Lucy Marsocci, Massimino Marsocci and Francesco “Frankie” Marsocci.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 8:30-9:30 am at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the West Warwick Assistance Agency in her memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
