Claire Webster Obituary

WEBSTER, Claire L., 94, of Lionel Avenue, Coventry, passed away Sunday morning, June 21, 2020 at Elderwood at Riverside, East Providence.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Clara L. (Hunt) Clark.  She resided in Providence until moving to Coventry in 1983.

Claire was a 31-year employee of the Providence Police Department before retiring.  She was a World War II Gold Star Family member and a member of The Providence Retired Police & Fire Association.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including the Very Reverend Robert E. Webster (Diocese of Orlando, FL).  She was a longtime companion of the late Edmond F. Marnane (Battalion Chief; Providence Fire Dept.) and sister of the late Howard B. Webster, Sr. (CWO, USANG), the late Russell H. Webster, the late Francis E. Webster, the late Edward R. Webster (Aviation Radioman, USNR; missing in action 6-15-1944 in the South Pacific); and the late Earl H. Webster, Sr. (Retired Captain, Johnston Police Dept.).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston.  Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charitable organization in memory of Claire would be appreciated.
