David “Sarge” Simas, LT., WWFD (Ret.), passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a three year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Jackie (Tellier) Simas for thirty-seven years.
Born in LaPlata, Maryland to the late Robert and Georgette (Benoit) Simas. He was raised in West Warwick and served the town for twenty years as a Firefighter retiring at the rank of Lieutenant. He was the owner with Jackie of the former D & S Heating. He was a member and past president of Club Frontenac and a member of the Rhode Island Raccoon Hunters Association.
David is survived by his children, Amanda Simas of Holyoke, MA and Andrew Simas and his wife Kelsey of Chepachet, RI; a grandson, Kelly David Simas and a brother, Mark Simas and his wife Carole. Also survived by his in-laws, Jean, Captain, WWPD (Ret.) and Jeannette Tellier, Kevin WWFD (Ret.) and his wife Allison Tellier, Kathy Tellier and Mary Jane Langlais. He was the beloved uncle to Heather and her husband Nate, Hillary and her husband Mitch, Jeff and his wife Leah, Emily, Bret, and Sage and great uncle to Nolan and Walter. David is also predeceased by his granddaughter, Stella Lu Simas.
David loved to spend time with his family. Summers he could be found at Johnson’s Pond enjoying time boating and fishing with the Tellier family. He liked riding his Harley but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his children and being Pepere to Kelly.

His funeral will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 8:45 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in SS. John and James Church, 20 Washington Street, West Warwick. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
