Eugenia Moriarty Obituary

Moriarty, Eugenia M. (McCarthy), 97, of W. Palm Beach, FL formerly of Cranston, RI passed away Sunday morning, July 11, 2021.  Until her death, she resided at her W. Palm Beach home cared for by her loving son David Moriarty Jr. with support of skilled caregivers and Hospice.  She was the wife of the late David Moriarty who passed away in 1985.  Born in Providence, July 19, 1923, she was the daughter of Dennis and Margaret (Donohoe) McCarthy formerly of Providence, RI.

Gene was the definition of a kind, happy, and loving soul.  She lit up the room with a smile and unbridled optimism. This legacy is carried on by her attentive family who cared for her with unwavering devotion.  Her enduring and loving marriage to David Sr. served as beautiful example for all who knew them.  Gene loved to travel, read, and play Scrabble.  She will always be missed at the many family gatherings that she enjoyed so much.

Eugenia was born in Providence and grew up in Cranston.  She attended and graduated from St. Xavier’s Academy and Bryant College.  She and David were married at St. Matthews Church in 1946 shortly after he returned from his deployment with the Army.  They moved to Cranston and raised three young children.  Later they moved to Cumberland, RI where she would reside for more than 20 years until her husband’s passing.  She moved to Rockport, MA to be with her daughter Denise, son-in-law Bruce, and her two precious grandchildren Rafe and David Thayer. After 12 years, she moved to her new home in W. Palm Beach, FL where she resided for the past 24 years.

She is survived by her three loving children and their spouses, David Moriarty of W. Palm Beach, FL, Julie (Amin) Khoury of Jupiter Island, FL, and Denise (Bruce) Thayer of Hobe Sound, FL; 2 wonderful grandsons from the San Francisco Bay area Rafe Thayer and David (Kaycee) Thayer; and her favorites Riley and Kai Thayer her great grandchildren.  She loved and touched the lives of her beloved nieces, nephews, and their families Margaret Patch of E.
