Ronald E. Smith, 85, of Smithfield, formerly of the Edgewood section of Cranston, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, with his family by his side at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
He was the loving husband of Agnes R. (Williams) Smith. They had been married for 55 years. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was a son of the late Andrew J. and Anne B. (Robstock) Smith. The Smith family resided in Edgewood for fifty years.
Mr. Smith was a 1955 graduate of Gorton High School and a 1959 graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He was a Sales Representative with Truckaway Company for many years until his retirement.
He was a parishioner of the Shawmut Baptist Church in Warwick for 75 years and most recently the Memorial Baptist Church in Seekonk. He was a longtime member and board member of the RI Yacht Club, a member of the Metacomet Country Club, Crestwood Country Club, and the Providence Rotary Club where he was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind his fabulous, kind and loving daughters, Tiffani V. Herchen and her husband Michael of Smithfield and Monique L. Griffin and her husband Griff (Brian) of Oviedo, FL, happy and proud grandfather to Mickayla Herchen, Michael Herchen, Stephen Herchen and Kaylee Griffin. He was the brother of the late Andrew K. Smith, Darlene Donovan and Emily Pandolfo.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 from 10:00am -11:00 am in the Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Avenue, Seekonk, MA followed by a church service at 11:00 am. The service will be livestreamed on the church YouTube Channel:

Following the service all are invited to a luncheon reception in the lower level of the church. Interment will be private.
